Can't Get Enough of Steven Paysu's cover songs

by , in
Steven Paysu

Gosshhhh! I don't know what's happening with me but I just can't get enough of Steven Paysu's songs. I've been listening to his cover songs over and over again. This even prompted me to create my first ever playlist on YouTube where you can find all Steven Paysu's Tawag ng Tanghalan videos (those videos that were uploaded by ABS-CBN Entertainment). Yes! clear videos and legit source only. :)

I just hope that they will upload his past videos also because I missed those times when he was still a semi-finalist or way, way back. I tried to search it on I want TV but it seems like you can only access a whole month's episode of a particular show (like Show Time) even if you are in a Premium account. If I am wrong, please correct me or point me as to where I can watch his previous performances. I'm really dying to listen to his other songs...I really love his songs and I love the fact that he is always singing love songs. And take note! Classic love songs! Gossshhhh...nakakainlove talaga ang mga songs niya! I just can't get enough! I can't wait for his ALBUM! I can't wait to listen to the whole song version of all the songs he sangs in Show Time. Gossshhhhh! Steven, when are you coming back to the Philippines? Hehehe.

Anyways, ito iyong mga Top 3 Favorites (videos) ko so far - sa mga kinanta niya. :) :) :)

1. Steven Paysu's Got To Believe in Magic version - Kyla can best describe how everyone was feeling when he sang this. And it was really good. I was also teary eyed that time when I was watching him (at nakaheadset pako ako noon). So grabe talaga ang impact! Mararamdaman mo talaga ang song! And I love the fact that this was also the theme song of my favorite Filipino movie of all time: Got to Believe in Magic (Claudine and Rico). Flashbacks!

2. Steven Paysu's I'll just Fall In Love Again version - this song is also so beautiful! Kaya nga nasabi ni judge Jaya na ewan ko na lang kung hindi pa iboboto ng madlang people. Coz you know? Kahit super taas ng ratings niya sa judges, hindi siya makapasok-pasok kaagad sa Top 6. This song really sealed it. Walang kawala na kaya naman nakakuha siya ng 99.8% na votes na.

Ito iyong tipong kahit hindi ka inlove, ma-iinlove ka! Hehehe. Maaalala mo iyong nakaraan, or mag-lo-long ka for someone. Or hahanapin mo iyong magic? Charus! Hehehe.

3. Steven Paysu's Barry Manilow medley - 'Nung kinanta niya toh, grabe talaga ang tagos nito sa puso! Parang nakukuryente ako, naiiyak azz in halo-halo na ang emosyon. But it was a good feeling. Ramdan ko na parang nasa Aliw Theater din ako that time. Kinakaway ang aking mga kamay especially sa mga linyang ito, na para siyang national anthem ng mga lahat ng inlove sa music.

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Hayyy, ang sarap sa pakiramdan! Salamat talaga sa musika! At salamat Steven sa napakaganda mong mga version ng ma kantang ito! Hayyyy! Lumulutang pa ako! Hehehe. At Congratulations!

Thanks in advance! Hehe. :)

woman listening to music

It seems like the topic of happiness is getting more popular by the year. This leads to more and more people trying to find ways to increase their happiness wherever they can. Some people read books, some turn to exercise, while some use relationships. However, there is one common thread that a majority of us use to improve our emotions – music!

Music has been used as a healing tool for millennia and the benefits of music are still being discovered today. Scientists are using brain-imaging technology to peer inside the minds of those both listening and creating music. Unsurprisingly, the results have been astonishing.

Music is now being shown to touch many areas of our lives that we never thought possible. Thus, it’s no surprise that a correlation between music and happiness has been discovered.

If you’re interested in learning about the science behind music check out this article below. I’ve dug through mountains of scientific literature to pull out the best studies relating music to happiness. What you find may surprise you!

6 Ways Music Calm the Mind

by , in
woman playing violin

In our stressful, workaday lives, we often turn to music to calm or even distract our minds from the problems and situations that regularly arise. Needless to say, a calm mind is not always one that is quiet and/or reflective—although we all need that feeling from time to time—but sometimes active and engaged, focused on an enjoyable task or experience rather than our everyday stressors.

Given those parameters, below we have listed and described 6 ways in which music, directly and indirectly, calms the mind and distracts us from the stress and problems that we all occasionally face.

Whether you’re using a Beatbuddy (https://www.singularsound.com/products/beatbuddy) or any other instrument or equipment, you’ll see more than a few benefits.

1. Music Can Help Combat Stress

After a hectic day in which everything seems to go wrong, music can help combat our pent-up stress and allow us to unwind. In numerous studies and experiments, listening to soothing music, whether classical, soft jazz, or spiritual tunes, among other genres, has been shown to lower the level of the stress hormone cortisol—a hormone that when elevated can also lead to obesity and a slew of other stress-related illnesses.

2. Music Releases Endorphins that Can Lead to a State of Euphoria

Have you ever noticed that people just seem to be calmer and happier when listening to their favorite tunes? If so, the release of the brain chemicals known as endorphins may be responsible. When endorphins are released by the brain people tend to feel a sense of euphoria—a pleasant feeling that can certainly melt away the problems of the day.

3. Music Aids Memory Recall and Reasoning

music notes

When our brains are stressed, depressed and/or cluttered, it can often be difficult to perform simple mental tasks that require any type of memory recall. Fortunately, music has proven to be very beneficial in this realm. According to what is known as the Mozart Effect, certain types of music, especially classical music, not only calm the mind but can also assist with spatial-temporal reasoning and other cognitive functions. Although there is no indication that classical music makes individuals more intelligent, it does stand to reason that a calmer mind will be better equipped to solve complex mental problems.

4. Music Helps with Meditation

Meditation can best be described as a practice in which individuals strive to dwell only in the present moment, without the worries of the past or anxiety of the future cluttering their mind. The calming practice, which has been used to treat pain, mental disorders, and even hypertension, can be even more effective when music is also included—soft, rhythmic and repetitive sounds that keep practitioners focused only on their breathing.

5. Music Wards Off Anxiety

Anxiety is defined as a “fear of the unknown,” but for those who suffer its often debilitating effects, it can be a very frightening condition. One way doctors and therapists are trying to treat irrational and situational anxiety is through music. Music is one of the best mediums for distraction. Thus, when anxiety sufferers are focused on the music—preferably music they enjoy—rather than on a potential anxiety or panic attack, these anxiety events can be drastically reduced.

6. Music Helps Us Exercise

One of the best ways to cope with the stress and pressure in our lives is through exercise. Experts say exercise helps calm and distract the mind. Exercise can also wear us out physically, leading to a deeper and more restorative sleep. Music helps individuals get the most out of their exercise regimen. Not only are exercisers more apt to enjoy their workout while listening to their favorite upbeat tunes, they are also likely to exercise longer and harder than they would without the musical accompaniment.

Given its ability to soothe, inspire and motivate our minds, music is—and should be—a vital and consistent component in our daily lives, regardless of the type of music one prefers.

The Inspiring Stories Behind The World's Greatest Guitar Legends

by , in
Few people have the ability to inspire a generation, but if anybody can, it’s history’s greatest guitar legends. Kurt Cobain, Brian May and Jimi Hendrix are all in the pantheon of the greats. But how did our heroes get their start? Here are their stories.

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix is probably the most influential guitarist of all time. His ability with the instrument was so great that he has almost become a part of the popular lexicon. “Strumming like Hendrix” is just as much a part of our vocabulary as anything else.

Hendrix began his career playing gigs on the chitlin’ circuit but quickly abandoned that when his career took off the in the 1960s. His first guitar was a second-hand, $5 acoustic which he apparently learned to play by ear.

Brian May

Brian May

Brian May didn’t buy his first electric guitar - he built it. He decided to take this route after being inspired by one of his guitar idols, Jeff Beck. Beck was keen on feedback distortion, and so May set about building a guitar with this capability. He began his first bank in 1984 after learning by ear and taking no formal music lessons at all in his childhood. Though May started with acoustics, he quickly progressed to the electric guitar

J Mascis

Have you ever wondered where the sound of grunge came from? Hint: it wasn’t Cobain. In fact, it was J Mascis, a man who was made famous for his work with Dinosaur Jr. Although Mascis started out on an acoustic similar to today’s Fender FA 100, he quickly gravitated to heavier sounds. Before long, he’s founded his own hardcore band.

Slash

Slash

Why does Slash wear a top hat? Nobody knows. But there’s no denying that the man can play guitar. He was originally the lead guitarist for the universally acclaimed Guns ‘n Roses. The band had enormous success for nearly two decades both in the 1980s and 1990s.

Like May, Slash’s first guitar was a Spanish style with only one string. During that time, he went to music school but preferred instead to teach himself. He emerged as one of the late-twentieth century’s best guitarists, inspiring hundreds of thousands to take up playing the instrument.

Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain is, unfortunately, remembered for all the wrong reasons. Though he was a force of nature in his time, his untimely death is what most people remember him for. Despite this, Cobain was a guitar legend in his own right, helping millions of grunge rockers rock out in mosh pits.

Cobain got his first guitar as a present for his 14th birthday. He immediately became obsessed with it, strumming practically from the moment he got up till he went to bed. Unlike many standout guitarists, Cobain didn’t start off on an acoustic. His first guitar is believed to have been an electric by Harmony or Sears. It was a budget model, but that doesn’t matter. Before long, Cobain had started Nirvana, and the band was enjoying widespread success. The first song he played was Back In Black by AC/DC.

Music To Your Ears: Creating The Best Possible Music Venue

by , in
music venue, auditorium

The music industry is constantly changing. The business model of buying CDs was once incredibly secure and is now all but dead. Then MP3 downloads were the king, but streaming has taken over from that as the most popular listening format. Things are changing all the time but there is one thing that will never change, and that's people's desire to see live music. In fact, live music is something that is just as, if not more, successful now than ever before. Because of this a lot of entrepreneurs are getting in on the ground floor and setting up their own music venues. That might sound like an easy way to set up a business. After all, all you need to do is find the right place, put in a stage, and get the audiences pouring in. But trying to create a successful venue is far more complicated than that. Here are a few simple tips to try and help you get started.

Pick a theme

The kind of theme that you choose is going to have a huge impact on the kind of venue that you're running. Are you going for something incredibly modern? Then it might be the kind of place where people go to see electronic music. Perhaps you're taking on a more vintage, opera house kind of style? If that's the case, then acoustic music is going to be much more at home here. Of course, there's nothing to say that you can mix styles however much you want but it's important to think about the aesthetics of your venue and how that ties into the kind of atmosphere that you're trying to create.

Seating or standing?

Again this will come down to the kind of music that you want in your venue. If you're looking to bring in a heavy rock audience, then there's not much use of having fixed seating, but if you want to create a venue for people to come and listen to refined classical music, then a company like Seating Concepts may have exactly what you need. Of course, you could always create a balance with seats further back but standing areas closer to the stage. This kind of setup is common in venues that host various different kinds of performances from night to night.

Think about sound

The one thing that you cannot ignore is the acoustics of your venue. Once again this ties into the kind of performances that you want to have. Take for example a venue like Carnegie Hall. This is one of the most famous venues in the world, but its acoustics are so reflective that they create huge amounts of echo. This means that classical or acoustic music sounds fantastic there, but something like rock or punk music ends up sound like a complete and total mess. Think about the kind of music that you want to be performed in your venue and then look at what you can do to create the best possible sonic environment for that. It's a good idea to talk to an architect about how to go about that before making any concrete plans.

6 Steps to Becoming a Musical Master

by , in
Learning a musical instrument is a wonderful skill to acquire. It allows you to express yourself creatively, perform for family and friends and perhaps, could even lead to the career of your dreams.

However, learning a musical instrument is also a difficult skill to acquire. When you watch someone like Jimi Hendrix or Elton John on stage performing at such a high level, it can seem as though musical virtuosity is only for superstars. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Anyone can learn how to play a musical instrument if they’re willing to put the hours in, but sometimes some guidance helps too. So, here are the six steps you must follow before you can start cranking out your favourite tracks.

man playing guitar

Step 1: Choose your weapon

It may sound obvious, but before you can master a musical instrument, you first need to own one. Your initial decision will simply be which instrument you want to play, with some of the most common being guitar and piano. If, however, you want to learn something more niche, like the Theremin, then go for it!

Once you’ve made that choice, you’ll then have to decide how to get started. Many instruments offer beginner starter packs with all the additional equipment you need, like replacement strings or cases, so take time to do some research before you make your purchase.

Step 2: Find some helpful resources

The internet has a wealth of great resources when it comes to learning an instrument. Hunt down relevant YouTube videos, eBooks on musical theory, useful apps and skype tutorial sessions. If, however, you’d prefer to go down more traditional routes, ask your library for beginner instrument books and see if anyone in your local area is offering face-to-face lessons.

Step 3: Practise, practise, practise

There’s a lot of debate, not just in music, as to whether talent really exists or if success is actually achieved through hard work alone. Certainly, it is never achieved without it. It is recommended that you spend at least an hour each day practising, but even if you can’t commit to this, do as much as you can, even if it’s only 5 minutes.

Step 4: Have a goal

Having a goal is a great way of focusing your practise. This could be something small, like learning a pentatonic scale or a grander ambition. For the latter, why not aim to create an album? There are outlets like Nationwide, which can help with this, but whatever your goal is, remember to update it every time it is achieved.

Step 5: Don’t rush

Learning a musical instrument takes time, so don’t expect to be able to play the complete works of Mozart on day one. Practising slowly, but carefully, is more useful than rushing through your lessons as fast as you can.

Step 6: Don’t give up

For every person that picks up a musical instrument for the first time, someone else is probably putting it down in frustration. The only way that you’ll ever master your instrument of choice, however, is to stick at it. So, even when frustration strikes, take a deep breath and start playing once again.

Music Apps That Will Blow Your Mind

by , in
Back in 1997, Napster launched. Ultimately the pirate music website was taken down. But not before it changed the way that we consume music, forever.

Now the marketplace is flooded with legitimate music apps. These promise users everything from their favourite hits to random, home-made beats. And because there are so many of them, they can be quite tricky to navigate. In this post, we're going to take a look at some of the more interesting music apps out there. You never know, some of them might blow your mind.

woman listening to music

Apple Music
You can't have a list of the best music apps without including Apple Music. Apple Music builds on the backbone of popular iTunes platform. But it does more than this. As it is a streaming service, many of its songs are free.

music

What's more, the app actually learns the type of music that you like, and it can construct playlists based on your preferences.

If you get fed up with all the free stuff - which is unlikely - you can pay a $9.99 a month subscription to get access to all 30 million songs.

Pandora
Pandora is an app with staying power. This little music app has been around for years and has managed to survive the Apple Music storm. Part of its success is down to the fact that it is always getting better. The app is highly customizable. And it lets you create whole stations dedicated to your favourite artists.

pandora

What's more, the previous 40 hour-per-month limit has finally been removed, meaning that Pandora can truly be your go-to app. Learn more about the apps other features and suitability for children here.

Rhapsody
For a long time, Rhapsody wasn't the most attractive music app out there. But now, thanks to a facelift, it can finally compete with the best.

But the app is more than just a pretty face. Rhapsody has been going for years, and over time has built up an enormous library of songs. The library of music, combined with the fresh interface, now makes it one of the best music apps out there.

Like Pandora, Rhapsody allows you to create your own radio stations, dedicated to your favourite artists. And like Pandora, it has a premium service that allows you to go ad-free.

Qello Concerts
They say that if you want to truly experience music, you have to go to a live event. Qello Concerts recognises that that isn't always possible, so it tries to do the next best thing: bring the event to you.

qello concerts

Rather than streaming individual songs, Qello Concerts specialises in streaming whole music events. For a small monthly payment, you can transform your smartphone into a full-blown auditorium. You can watch full-length concerts and documentaries on command.

iHeartRadio
The last music app on our list is iHeartRadio. This nifty little app combines the convenience of a smartphone with the randomness of the radio. It's like a regular radio, but with a twist. You can customise it to deliver tunes, broadcast over the radio, that reflect your listening habits. With this app, there's a song for every occasion.

Learn How To Listen To Your Entire Music Collection In Your Car!

by , in
Did you read the title of this blog post and assumed you’d have to drag your entire vinyl, tape and CD collections around in the car with you? Well, you could do that but it wouldn't be a good idea!

Instead, what you need to do is keep reading! You can then learn about the different options open to you for digitizing your music collection. Yes, I know - I mentioned the “D” word: digital! All you hardcore vinyl fans are doubtless feeling a little upset about moving your music into the 21st century.

The good news is you don’t have to get rid of your collection of cassettes, vinyl records and whatever other media you have. All you are doing is just moving them over into another usable format.

There, that doesn't sound so bad, does it? The following are examples of how you can listen to your music collection in your car. Trust me; once you have moved over to a new digital format for your car, you will wonder why you haven’t done so ages ago!

car music

Get a DVD head unit installed in your car

Car stereos are also called “head units” in the motor industry. These devices power your car’s audio system. Most aftermarket models have built-in CD players as standard. The only trouble with CD head units is that they can only play CDs.

If you fit a DVD head unit to your car, you can play both CDs and DVDs. But why a DVD head unit, you may ask? After all, you can’t exactly watch your favorite films whilst you’re driving, right?

The answer is to do with capacity. CDs can only store around 650 Mb of data or 74 minutes of music. In comparison, a DVD can store 4.7 Gb or more of data. The only caveat is that you cannot make audio DVDs in the same way you can make audio CDs. Instead, you have to burn audio files like MP3s to DVD discs.

When you go shopping for a DVD head unit, make sure that it offers features like 3.5 mm auxiliary inputs and USB ports.

Convert analog music to digital formats
Analog music comprises of music stored on vinyl records, cassettes and so forth. I’m afraid the process of converting analog music to digital is rather long. That’s because you have to supervise the process from start to finish.

Vinyl records can't stop playing and turn over to the other side of the record. Whereas auto-reverse cassette players can. You might also need to edit the converted tracks to remove any silence before or after each track.

To help with the process, some people use USB turntables connected to their computers. But, if you’d rather not spend the money, you can just run a standard audio cable from your hi-fi to your computer.

I recommend saving your converted music as high-quality MP3 files. That’s because most aftermarket head units can read these files without issue. Whereas if you used some obscure format, it’s likely you will run into problems.

Now that you have converted your analog tunes into a digital format, it’s time to think about what formats you want to use. As you’ve got a DVD head unit for your car, there are plenty of options open to you. They are as follows:

Vinyl Records

Option 1: CD

CDs are a well-known digital audio format. As I mentioned earlier, you can have up to 74 minutes of audio that you can listen to from any audio CD player. If you want to cram some more tunes onto it, you’ll have to burn MP3 files instead of raw audio.

To do this, you will need to use some decent burning software. Check out some examples at burnworld.com, which may fit the bill. Blank CDs are cheap to buy. For the ultimate in cost savings, I recommend buying a load of blank CDs on a spindle.

Of course, you can buy blank CDs that come with jewel cases but they will cost you more money. I prefer the spindle approach and just keeping my audio CDs in a “wallet.”

Option 2: DVD

Blank DVD discs cost more money to purchase. But they aren’t silly money! You can fit a lot more data onto DVD than with CDs. As you’ve got a DVD head unit, it makes sense to stick with DVDs.

As you will know from earlier, you can’t make native audio DVDs like you can CDs. You also can’t play DVDs in CD players - although the opposite is possible. Given that you are only using DVDs for your car, the downsides don’t matter too much in this case.

Option 3: Blu-ray disc

Blu-ray is like a DVD on steroids! You can put so much more data onto Blu-ray discs than you can with the other two formats. The only downside is you can’t play Blu-ray discs on CD or DVD players!

It’s an expensive format, and one I wouldn’t recommend for most people given the cost. If this is something you want to go ahead with, you’ll have to rip out that shiny new DVD head unit you bought and fit a Blu-ray head unit instead.

Option 4: USB drive

It’s no secret that USB flash drives are smaller and more compact to carry around than discs. If space is at a premium in your car, you might want to consider saving your MP3s on a USB flash drive.

Your new head unit will support USB devices so it’s just a case of plug and play! It’s possible to buy USB flash drives with a capacity up to 128 GB. For more space, consider a 2.5-inch external hard drive instead.

Do you own a smartphone? If so, you could always save your music onto it and plug it into your head unit’s USB port! The added benefit of this approach is you can listen to tunes on your mobile. Regardless of whether you’re in the car or not!

Bob Marley: The Death of A Legend

by , in
how did bob marley die, Bob Marley

When Bob Marley died in 1981 at the age of 36, the music industry lost a legendary performer, but the human race lost much, much more. Bob Marley was a powerful voice for freedom, human rights, racial equality and spirituality.

Officially, Marley died from malignant melanoma, an extremely dangerous form of cancer that began on his toe and eventually spread throughout his body. The cancer was discovered after Bob injured his foot playing soccer in 1977 and his doctor strongly recommended amputation.

The simple truth is that Bob Marley was a deeply religious man who strictly adhered to the teachings of his Rastafarian faith. He believed the words of Leviticus 21:5 - "They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in the flesh." This passage explains both the commandment to wear dreadlocks and the ban on amputation, instructions that Marley faithfully obeyed.

By 1980, Marley's cancer had metastasized and his health began to rapidly decline. He collapsed while jogging in New York City the day after a concert and he gave his final live performance in September of 1980 in Pittsburgh. A recording of that amazing show was released in February of 2011 as Bob Marley and the Wailers Live Forever.

During the few months he had left to him, Bob Marley sought treatment from several specialists. On his way home to Jamaica from Germany in 1981, he became so seriously ill that his flight was diverted to Miami. There he was admitted Cedars Medical Center for emergency care.

While Bob Marley was in Ceders Medical, a dietitian named Rona Steinberg was sent in to find out what he might be able to eat. She was so impressed with their brief encounter that she recalls it clearly to this day.

In her own words, she describes meeting the legendary musician:

"There was a buzz about Bob Marley being in the hospital and they wanted someone to go in to find out what he can possibly eat... He was lying in bed and he was surrounded by all his bodyguards and some relatives. I basically really spoke to them and of course looked over at him and he looked at me. You know I think he was just very, very weak and glanced at me. Maybe tried to give me a little expression, smile, whatever. And we came down to what he could really tolerate, just you know something soft. What did he like. They told me anything chocolate. I said ëHow about some chocolate pudding?' "

Rona Steinberg remembers the gentle man who gave the world all he had to give:

"He was a nice man. I felt like a gentle energy from him. Even though of course he was sick and weak. But thatís the only way I can really express it. I do remember the image of him lying in his bed. He had gotten very, very thin. But he had all this hair. These Rastafarian long locks. And it was a little bit sad, because he had so much energy and he was so cool and being up on stage and dancing around. You know and then here he was. He died very young. But I guess he did a lot in his short life. He really made quite an impression. I guess God allowed him to do that in his short life, and I guess it was time for him to move on."

Rastaman Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 after telling his son Ziggy, "Money can't buy life." In the span of his three and one half decades, he touched millions of souls with his music and his spirit. He may be gone from our sight, but he will live forever through his incredible talent and his loving heart.

Redemption Song

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fullfil the book.
Won't you have to sing
This songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.

Songwriters: Edwin Hawkins and Bob Marley

Kaleidoscope World Forever More

by , in
Francis M, Elmo Magalona

Father’s Day is just a few weeks off but Elmo Magalona seems to have found a perfect and fitting way to pay tribute to his father, the late Master Rapper, Francis M. Technology has played a huge role in relaunching the MTV for Kaleidoscope World. Now introduced as Kaleidoscope World Forever More, the new video features Elmo - singing along with his Dad, interacting, rapping and performing with him and his band. To say the video is touching is a bit of an understatement.

The behind the scenes crew deserve equal, if not more, credit. Footage from the original MTV was painstakingly combined with new scenes so viewers feel some level of authenticity. If someone didn’t know Francis M. died four years ago (I don’t know how that’s possible!) should see this video, there would be no doubt in your mind that these were just two performers collaborating.

Watch the video. Even if you are not a fan of Francis Magalona and his music, there’s something poignant about a son who wants to be with deceased father, one last time.

How to Look for Rare Guitars

by , in
guitar

There is nothing more soothing than the sound of guitar and those who like to collect or play rare guitars know that how difficult it is to find those models that have been discontinued and rare. There are various models that are popular because of many technical reasons and many collectors are always on the lookout for such models, but finding and buying one is not always easy as not many who already possess such artifacts would willingly part with them. Here are some tips for those who are looking to get their hands on one such rare guitar.

First thing is to be on constant vigilance, the availability of these guitars is unpredictable and if not careful about keeping an eye out then one may miss a valuable opportunity of buying one as and when it becomes available for sale. Contact a few people who are in this business and leave the details where you can be contacted if there is a possibility that one of the rare pieces becomes available. Apart from these people there are online businesses that deal in rare guitars and keeping in touch with them is a good idea. Second and most important part is the authenticity of the guitar that you are looking to purchase. Finding a reliable source and business or buying first hand from the seller is a good idea when it comes to buying rare guitar pieces.

The Door by Ate Gay (Lyrics and Video)

by , in
Ate Gay
If you have been watching Wil Time Big Time, you have not definitely missed Ate Gay's remarkable joke about "The Door".  It is a just a simple joke but it never fails to made me laugh every time she guested on the primetime show.

And few minutes ago, I learned through a Facebook friend's status that there is actually an official video to this. Whoah! May song na pla ito?  Wow! Sikat na sikat na talaga. I hope magkabreak din si Ate Gay tulad ni Vice Ganda. I really like him.

Anyway, check out the video and lyrics below. I transcribed the video for the lyrics kasi I haven't found the lyrics pa sa internet. I'm not sure with the 1st two words in the third line of the first verse, just comment below for the correction. :)

The door....
The door...

Minsan ako ay nasa house movie marathon ang peg
Buong gabi nagrerelax kasi bukas pa ang gate
Nanunuod, kumalabog at sa door ang tunog
kinabahan ako bigla parang mayroong dumadabog

Refrain:
Nakakatakot, nakakagulat
At hindi ko talaga inakala
Nakakatakot, nakakagulat
Ang nakita pagbukas...ng door

Chorus:
I touch the door, I touch again the door
dadadadadadadoor...
I open the door, I open again the door
Ahhhh....(sigaw)
I touch the door...
The door...

Dahan-dahan nilapitan ang pinto para buksan
Nanginginig ako sa takot balahibo'y nagtayuan
Habang hawak ang pinto tinatawagan mga friends
Tuhod ko'y nalalambot at ako'y tense na tense
(Repeat Refrain)

Ate Gay, yeah...
Blanktape

Nakakatakot talaga, nakakashock talaga (the door)
Nakakatakot talaga, nakakashock talaga (the door)

I touch the door, I open the door
Napasigaw so I close the door
Nagulat kasi ako sa nakita ko
Pagbukas ng pinto, natakot ako
Nataranta , Di alam ang gagawin
Para bang utak ko nablack-out din
Kung ikaw kaya ang makakita ng
Sa'yong pinto ay may aswang
(Repeat Refrain then Chorus)

If you haven't seen this "The Door" joke, check out the video below also.  It is found on the latter part but it's best if you watched the whole video. Have fun!

Quality Music Playing with Steinway and Sons Piano Rental

by , in
Steinway and Sons Piano Rental, Piano

Music plays a large part in every person’s life. Sometimes, it would connote a mood like mellow songs for sad moments or if the person is quite happy, one might choose to play rock or some other upbeat songs.

Added to that, it is a better move for parents to expose children to good music and as well give them strict music training for those kids who have the potential. Recent studies show that children who are into music during their younger years are in a way creative and geared towards their mental development in the long run.

As with piano lessons, it could be very conducive for a beginner to use the best quality and motivational equipment like that of a Steinway and Sons piano. Aside from being used to how the keys are being played in a concert-like setting, the aspirant will also be inspired to take on the lessons seriously, and from the heart.

From a long history of quality pianos produced from the last two centuries, Steinway and Sons has found a place in the heart of every concert artist and as well as for the aspiring pianists. The very reason for this: the equipment or the musical instrument itself, aside from being a long lasting one, this specific piano brand has an exquisite sound performance like no other.

Now, as it wants to share the beauty and the best quality of music playing to families and individuals, it offers the 12 month Piano Rental Program. After this period of time, the family or the individual who avails of the said promo can now send a notice to the management whether to ship back the piano or arrange for the purchase of the equipment.

Annebisyosa No Other Concert

by , in
Anne Curtis has evolved through the years from a teenage icon turned host, then became a recording artist and just recently, she became blockbuster actress for “No Other Woman” and now, she steps up to become a concert artist as she stages her first major concert on January 28, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The concert title is inspired by her recent movie hit and is called: “Annebisyosa No Other Concert World Tour.” Her album turned platinum in a span of less than three months after release. The “Showtime” host was overwhelmed by the support given by the “madlang pipol” - as they fondly called the audience of this Kapamilya noontime show.

Anne Curtis, Annebisyosa Concert

Anne developed her confidence to sing on stage because of the daily sample segments held in “Showtime.” It was her dream to have an album and also to have a concert, and it seems that all things are slowly unfolding.

She said in a recent press release that people must expect the best with regards to the production. She then reveals that she has her brains on with the concept of all the production numbers and the designs for her costumes.

Basta ginagamitan ko na talaga ng bongga yung imagination ko dito just to give the best kasi kung ano nga yung kakulangan ng boses ko, ibibigay ko na lang sa lahat ng production number at outfits ko. Kaya abangan nyo yan!” This was Anne’s statement as she admits the limitations on her voice but she promises to make it up with her vivacious numbers and her grandiose costume changes.

The people who would be behind her concert will be Rico Gutierrez as the Director with Marvin Querido as musical director; and is produced by Viva Concerts as Anne is under the management of Viva.

Georcelle Dapat, the ASAP Rocks choreographer will also work for her concert. Georcelle said in that TV Patrol interview that she knew this time would come that Anne would soon be given the chance to do her solo concert in Araneta. She also said that Anne is no longer just a goddess on TV but she is now also a concert goddess.

Anne Curtis will be joined on stage by “Showtime” co-host and real life close friend, Vice Ganda with ASAP colleague and Popstar princess, Sarah Geronimo. Anne assures the concert goers that the show will cause them to smile and be entertained through the best she can do. She then adds: “ngayon ay handa na raw siyang lumipad, tumiwarik, magsayaw, at siyempre kumanta.”

But with all these success that she has now gained, she still looks back to the “madlang pipol” who made her step up to the best she can be.

American Artist produces an all-OPM hits album for Jose Mari Chan

by , in
Jose Mari Chan

Another milestone for Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is the American production of an album containing twelve hits of the timeless singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan. The album is called The Manhattan Connection: The Songs of Jose Mari Chan.

It can be remembered that Chan’s hits were revived locally through the years and the most recent of which is that of Christian Bautista. The album earned quadruple platinum award in a span of few months after the release and that only means Filipinos really love the voice and the melody of no less than Jose Mari Chan.

The eternal hits like “Beautiful Girl,” “Constant Change,” “Can We Just Stop and Talk a While" and "Please Be Careful With My Heart" would always remind us of his mellow and soothing voice that he considers a gift from God. He even confessed in a recent interview that since the beginning of his career, he did not have a voice coach.

His passion for his art catapulted him into this stature at present that after so many decades, his songs would always be remembered especially as the yuletide season hastens. “Christmas in our Hearts” and”Perfect Christmas” would always make us sing to it whenever we hear of it being played over the radio.

But who could have known that after so many years, an American producer would take some interest in his compositions and make it into an album, released in a musically liberated nation that of America. It only means Filipino music is captivating for the foreigners and with that Chan was so thankful to Janis Siegel, current member of the Manhattan Transfer, an American vocal group, for producing the album.

All of the twelve songs will be performed by budding American singers of this age and this comes out like a tribute album to a non-American artist- a rare happening as they call it.

Chan said during the album press launch:"I was pleasantly surprised with the result of the album. I felt honored and challenged," and he added that this is an achievement for the Philippine Music Industry.

The story behind album production began a few years ago when Renen De Guia of Ovation Productions met with Siegel, the solo-Grammy Music Award recipient, and introduced him to Jose Mari Chan. Siegel soon found interest in Chan’s compositions upon hearing some of it which resulted to this tribute album.

Chan’s album only proves that OPM can cross cultural boundaries and is a big achievement for the music industry which would serve as an inspiration for Filipino musicians to keep on playing and creating songs from the heart. I think this is the edge of Filipino artists: the heart for music, the heart which is inside every OPM song, the message that it brings into our sub-conscious which seem to remain there forever and are even be part of our own lives.

Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Coca-Cola!

by , in
When it comes to festivals and merrymaking, Davao never falls far from the list of places to go to. The annual Kadayawan festival has been a phenomenon in itself, drawing crowds of people who want to see and experience how to party – the Davaoeno way.

If you stroll the main streets of the city and even wander as far as the immediate town outskirts and you will feel the boundless energy of everyone you meet. The people here are known for the warm hospitality, engaging smiles and the ongoing love affair with food. The ultimate foodie, Davaoenos have always been known to serve food regardless the occasion – birthdays, valentines, the holidays, job promotions, graduations….even the ‘just because’ days – because as you know the family is together a reason enough to celebrate. And where food and family is, Coca Cola can’t be far behind which we truly love from the start.

And as Davaoeno’s, we share the same values as Coca Cola – happiness, pure, simple and unadulterated. This sentiment is aptly covered in Buildex Pagales’ song, ‘Madayaw Davao’…’Lahi ra gyud kung magka uban uban. (Nothing beats togetherness.) See video below and lyrics after the jump (provided in English and Bisaya translation)

Incidentally, the famous Kadayawan festival of Davao takes its roots from the word dayaw which means that which is good, valuable, superior and beautiful. Nothing could be closer to the truth because Davao is known for its good and noble locals, impeccable and valuable principles, superior culture and way of living as well as the natural beauty of the land and the people themselves. That’s why our family has never moved to a new place because we really love it here and we always look forward the celebration of the King of Festival – Kadayawan.

But don’t just read about the festival. Hop into a plane and mingle and join the revelry. The Davaoeno way always have a glass of ice cold Coca Colas with the local delicacy – the Durian or pair it up with their wide array of delicacies. This is just my favorite!

Now there’s something you don’t see everyday! Just like the song that was composed for the festival - ‘Madayaw Davao! ….Where my pride will always lie, where my love will never die.’ Singer Buildex’ words ring out with truth and sincerity.

So what are you waiting for? Visit Davao in time for the Kadayawan festival and see firsthand the how the locals party. Party hard the Davaoeno way – it’s that simple. Engage in the festivity and try the following activities:

Aug20, 8pm onwards – Buildex Pagales Live concert together with Evee (local Davaoeno  band)

Aug21, 7am to 3pm – Float Parade, Come and see heartthrobs Buildex and Enchong Dee live and in the flesh!

Aug21, 6pm onwards – Join the back to back concert with guest bands Callalily, 6Cyclemind and Freestyle

Get the taste of true Davao happiness. The happiness in this land, much like happiness what Coca Cola brings is superior and incomparable. Madayaw, Davao!

Madayaw Davao! Madayaw Coca-Cola! Lyrics (Bisaya)
Artist: Buildex Pagales

Lain laing luna ang atong gigikanan
Ang atong panag' uban wala’y kaparehas
Mao nga dali na, itodo na nato
Isinggit na, ang gugma sa atong dakbayan

CHORUS
Madayaw Davao! Dinhi kusog ang pagkamadagipon
Madayaw Davao! Dinhi malipayon ang kinabuhi
Dinhi ang akong gugma, dili mahanaw
Dinhi ang akong garbo, wala’y katapusan

Mao nga pagmata na! Ipakita sa kalibutan
Kini ang tinood! Ang atong garbo!
Mao nga dali na! Itodo ng kalipay
Awiton ta ang gugma sa akong dakbayan!

Madayaw Davao! Gusto namo ang labaw sa tanan
Madayaw Davao! Lahi ra gyud kung magka uban uban
Dinhi ang akong gugma, dili mahanaw
Dinhi ang akong garbo, wala’y katapusan

Dili ko garboso, gusto lang nako isangyaw
Lain lain man ang atong mga panglantaw
Usa lang ang makahatag pahiyom
Biisan asa man makaabot nga dapit
Kini gihapon ang gina binabalik-balikan

CHORUS x2

Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Davao!
Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Davao!

Madayaw Davao! Madayaw Coca-Cola! Lyrics (English)
Artist: Buildex Pagales

We are all different. From different places.
But we have a bond, so deep and strong
So come together, and take it higher
Let’s shout about it, this home we love

CHORUS
Madayaw Davao! Where the loyalty is fierce
Madayaw Davao! Happiness lives here
Where my pride will always lie
Where my love will never die

So time to rise up and show the whole world
This is “the real thing,” this pride we share
So here it comes now, dial up the fun
Let’s sing about it, this home we love

Madayaw Davao! Where we only want the best
Madayaw Davao! Nothing beats togetherness
Where my pride will always lie
Where my love will never die

I don’t want to boast, just wanna say
We may have different points of view
But the same one thing makes us smile
We may end up in different places
But we’ll keep coming back to the same one place

CHORUS x2
Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Davao!
Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Davao!
