Best Memphis Computer Repair

by , in
Memphis Computer Repair

I don't know about everyone else, but I HATE IT when my computer freezes! Even if it's just running slow, my patience runs out quickly. Of course, this just goes to show how spoiled I've become over the years since computers nowadays are supposed to be a million times faster than they were a decade ago. But I don't care. I want my computer fixed, and I want it fixed NOW!

Thank the Lord for Cooper Systems Inc., or as I like to call them, the best Memphis computer repair service! I was extremely pleased with everything about their company. From their customer service to the quality of their work, they definitely went way beyond my expectations. Especially when I compare them to the supremely unhelpful IT department at my office.

Let's start with their top-notch customer service. The Memphis computer repair technician who came to my home was very friendly and helpful (did I mention they offer fast repairs both on-site and at their shop?). I could tell the person was a true IT expert that understood computers inside and out. He fixed my computer in less than 30 minutes and recommended a number of antivirus upgrades that were absolutely free!

Onto the quality of the actual computer repairs provided. In the past, whenever I got my computer fixed, it would run well for a couple weeks and then the problems would start up again. With Cooper Systems, my computer has been running smoothly for months! I can only imagine how much time this has saved me over time.

Finally, and some would say most importantly, the price. Other Memphis computer repair services have told me that they would need to rebuild my computer entirely and that I would probably be better off just buying a new computer (which of course they were happy to sell me at a high price). Cooper Systems gave me a much more affordable price and then told me about all the upgrades I would need to avoid computer issues in the future.

Since my experience working with Cooper Systems, I have recommended them to numerous friends and family members. Everyone who was smart enough to follow my advice agrees that they are the best computer repair service in Memphis and beyond. Simply put, nobody else can compete with their combination of quality service, helpful support, and discounted prices.

So if your computer has been running slow or crashing frequently there is no questions about who you should call. You can bring your computer to Cooper Systems for Memphis computer repair or request a trained technician to come to your location, whichever is more convenient for you! They told me I could save $20 if I brought my computer to their shop, but if you're busy like me, the on-site service is much more convenient. In my opinion, they are the only computer repair service in Memphis I'll ever need!

Mobile Manifestation

by , in
Successful people often tout the benefits of positive visualisation to help turn dreams into reality. In addition to taking time to put thoughts to paper, just sitting for a few moments each day to focus on desired outcomes can help plan the actions needed to get there. What is not so common is showing people how modern technology can help manifest many of the good things the heart desires. For instance, one's mobile phone can help organise thoughts and deeds, and also provide a handy place for dreams to be collected and reflected on.

Numerous studies have shown that energy affects outcomes. Even those who don't prescribe to such a notion would have a hard time refuting the fact that being positive just feels better, even if little comes from it other than focusing on the good in life. So why not turn your mobile phone into a tool to help harness positivity? Simply take or download photos that inspire and encourage and then set them up as live wallpaper. Save positive quotes and even consider installing a few free apps that offer encouragement on a regular basis. Use the phone to share positivity, too, through social media outlets. True it could also be used to gripe about traffic and the weather but why not use this technological wonder for good, instead? Send positivity out into the world and it will come back to you.

Make a Vision Board
Self-help gurus often mention creating vision boards so that even the darkest days can be lightened by seeing all the goals one aspires to. Big and bulky vision boards are great to refer to at home but it simply isn't convenient to take such items everywhere you go. Use mobile apps and websites to help keep a clear eye on life goals. There are plenty of free and low-cost programmes available for both iOS and Android platforms. Many allow photos and quotes to be added, as well as links to helpful sites. Search “vision board” in your mobile's app store to see if any suit. Websites like Pinterest are also great ways to visualise goals by collecting images and keeping them all in one place and within easy reach. Users can share their boards or keep them private if they prefer.

Build a Budget
Focusing positive energy towards goals helps keep eyes on the prize. However it's putting forth tangible effort that will help you reach the finish line. If it hasn't already been done, work up a budget and let your mobile help you keep track of expenses. In addition to many banks offering mobile apps, there are plenty of programmes to install that can help get finances in check. If more of a numbers person look for an app that's intuitive and user-friendly; whereas those who are more engaged by visual features should look for an app that turns equations into graphs and charts. No matter which is chosen, just make sure that the software is on that easily becomes something to use on a daily basis.

Mobile Work
Another great way to make dreams come true is to put in extra work. Thanks to smartphone technology it's now easier than ever to work whilst on the go. In addition to keeping up with emails, consider installing an office app that allows you to write business letters and create spreadsheets that can either be sent straight from the mobile, saved to be transferred to another computer or sent to a cloud shared by co-workers.

Mobiles and tablets are also the new notepads. True it may seem unnatural to skip the paper at first, but the ease and convenience of keeping all collected thoughts in one spot is unsurpassed. Plus the ability to share said-thoughts with the tough of a button is very handy indeed.

Visualising a better tomorrow today, plus putting in a bit of effort on a continual basis, will soon make the life you've dreamed of, reality. Making dreams come true is not so challenging after all—particularly when one uses all the terrific tools at one's disposal. Your mobiles is a small yet powerful way to help get the good things out of life.

Buying Electronics and Other Gadgets without Spending More Than YouShould

by , in
Technology has taken a prime position in daily interactions, making its way into just about everything people do on a regular basis. As consumers grow more and more dependent on electronic communications and devices commonplace in modern personal and business dealings, the demand for cutting edge consumer electronics rises.  In addition to societal pressure, many tech-lovers share a personal desire to stay ahead of the technology curve.

Personal preference always plays a role in consumer spending decisions, but the way electronics have led the technology revolution, leaves consumers little choice but to stay abreast of their options in this important retail market segment.  The tech sector shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, so the revolving door of gadgets and electronics is likely to continue well into the future.  For modern electronics users, the blistering pace of technology carries blessings and disadvantages to be exploited by consumers.

Education and Awareness Help buyers Save Money on Electronics Purchases
Smart phones, personal computers, laptops, tablets and a host of other gadgetry appeals to the cutting edge technology, captivating many buyers' spending considerations.  For others, these items are simply tools of modern life, required to operate on-pace with other citizens.  Wherever you stand on the latest and greatest electronics offerings, some level of knowledge about tech pro ducts is a useful tool in your bag of tricks. Koala Loans could enable you to buy the gadgets you require, without impacting your monthly budget.

Online competition provides a built-in reference resource for electronics buyers, who are able to compare multiple versions of similar products on the World Wide Web.  In the past, visiting electronics retailers in-person was the best way to stay abreast of changes and developments across the industry, but today the best place to source information is on the Internet.  Not only do helpful retailer sites offer expanded information about each product sold, but Web-only specials are sometimes offered exclusively for online customers.

7 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Small City Car

by , in
There is a huge amount of choice when it comes to buying cars these days, and with a car to suit everyone’s requirements and budgets, you would be hard pressed to not find what you are looking for!

One popular type of car is the small city car. Examples of such cars include the Fiat 500, Mini, Hyundai i10 (as pictured in the photograph above), Toyota Aygo, Volkswagen Up! and the Vauxhall Adam. Are you in the market for a new car? You might want to consider buying a city car instead of anything else. Here are 7 reasons why:

1. They are cheap to buy

The thing about cars is that the bigger they are, the more expensive they are to buy. This is because of the extra amount of parts and labour needed to build bigger cars, and the extra cost involved with fitting bigger components to them.

City cars are cheap to buy because they are cheap to make - but don’t let this fact discourage you from buying one, because they will still have as good a build quality as their bigger brothers and sisters!

2. They are cheap to insure

Take the Volkswagen Up! for example. The insurance groups for these cars are generally between group 1 and group 4. In the UK, cars are classed under insurance groups according to many factors such as the cost to repair or replace in the event of a claim. Groups start from 1 (cheapest) to 50 (dearest).

This makes city cars great for people that have just passed their driving tests, for example, as we all know car insurance for young and inexperienced drivers can often cost a fortune normally!

DIY Repair Job: Fixing a Cracked Bumper

by , in
man cleaning his car

Repairing a cracked car bumper is the perfect example of a DIY project  that you can do with plastic welding equipment. Doing these types of repair jobs on your own can save you hundreds of dollars that would otherwise be spent to get the bumper fixed at a body shop.

The following is a simple step-by-step guide for repairing a bumper using a hot air welder and plastic welding rods.
  1. Clean the repair area with plastic cleaner. Apply a heavy coat and wipe the area clean. Be sure to wipe in one direction to avoid re-contaminating the work area. Use a Dual Action sander to remove any paint and primer coatings until the bare plastic is exposed. Follow this process on both sides of the crack and all along the bumper crack itself. Once the area has been cleaned, blow the dust away with compressed air.

  2. Align the damaged pieces along the crack and apply aluminum body tape on the underside of the bumper. Aluminum tape is strong enough to withstand the heat of the welder. Use a plastic body filler spreader to optimize adhesion and squeeze out any air pockets under the tape. Be sure that you apply tape along the entire crack, especially the top, to keep the work area aligned while welding.

  3. Using a rotary tool with a tear drop-shaped bit, grind along the crack line to create a groove for the welding rod.

Which Laptop Should I Buy? The Ultimate Buyer's Guide

by , in

If you have been looking at purchasing a new laptop recently then there are probably a lot of questions running through your mind; the main one being “Which laptop should I buy?” The market is completely saturated with dozens of brands, new processors, operating systems and fancy gimmicks. How do you know which laptop is right for you? Our ultimate buyer’s guide should make it all clear.

What is it for?

Before you start making any decisions on which laptop to buy, you should work out exactly what you are going to be using it for. This will play a big part in your final decision, so it's important to consider all angles. Here are some of the most common uses for a laptop, tick off as appropriate:
  • Casual Browsing - Checking your Facebook and Twitter, reading emails, perhaps even doing some online shopping. Requires a basic laptop.

  • Work - Spreadsheets, word documents, data apps and the casual browsing all tied into one. Requires a fairly powerful laptop.

  • Gaming - It is important to work out if you are going to be using your laptop for games, as this will make a big difference in which model to go for. Requires an extremely powerful laptop.

  • Multimedia - Watching films and TV programmes, uploading photos and perhaps even some editing. Requires a fairly powerful laptop.
  • Family Friendly - A combination of casual browsing, some multimedia and children’s games. Requires a basic laptop.
When you've decided exactly what you want to use your laptop for, it will then be easier to make a more informed choice.

The Techy Stuff

You should now know whether you are looking for a basic laptop, something fairly powerful or a laptop that is extremely powerful. So, how do you know which is the most basic and which is the ultimate gaming machine? You need to be looking through the specification of your chosen laptop, to decide which one will be up to your chosen tasks. You’ll find that most basic laptops are obviously basic, as they will be cheap, cheerful and have very limited capabilities. If you’re looking for something more tech savvy then you may be looking at something like an Insight i7 laptop that comes with the latest processor from Intel. Whichever website you are using to look at laptops, see if they have a ‘compare’ button. What this will do is let you pick several laptops to put next to each other, so you can see the differences in their processor, RAM, HDD, graphics card and more.

Making the Final Decision

So, you know what your laptop is going to be used for, and you've compared all of the specifications to find out which will be the best for those tasks. It may be that you now have several laptops that are at the top of your wishlist; how do you choose between them? There are some other deciding factors, which although not necessary, could help you make your mind up. First up, there’s the aesthetics of the laptop. What does it look like? Would you be happy to carry it around with you and show it off? Secondly, the reviews of the laptop. What have other people said about it? Has it got poor reviews for some reason? Thirdly, and most importantly, your budget. Can you afford that Apple Air or will you end up in a whole load of debt?

Choosing a new laptop doesn't have to be difficult, as long as you go into the process with some key factors in mind; decide what it’s used for, compare the differences and use your final deciding factors to make that choice.

Get With The Times

by , in
Though the past seems like a calmer, gentler time, there are still some major advantages to living right now. Modern medicine saves lives and modern technology helps families stay connected, no matter where all reside.  So with such wonders in communication why do many elderly people resist positive change? Some may subconsciously desire to control as much as they can when time begins to take a physical toll. Still, others who do make great efforts to keep up on current events and pop culture may still fight the notion of using some of the greatest benefits of modern technology. Why?

Perceived Lack of Need

Some hold-outs who avoid social media, smart phones and video conferencing may be unconvinced as to why they should be interested in such things. Their mobile works fine and they like writing letters, so what's the problem? It can also be frustrating having younger people telling them what to do. And young people really can be annoying when trying to convince parents and grandparents to get with it. Plus who wants to have to learn a bunch of new stuff later on in life? If trying to convince and older friend or family member to get on board with modern technology try appealing to whatever it is they're most interested in, whether it's keeping up with the grandchildren, being able to order rare gardening supplies online, or being able to save money. Most everyone could find some benefit so personalise the approach to something they find valuable, even if the mobile's all just a ruse to help them more connected to the family and safer.
Not Suitable for Needs

Some technological gadgets are geared for the elderly but many more are not. Even the marketing campaigns highlight young, hip consumers. Most smartphone touch screens could be very challenging for those with poor eyesight or trouble with arthritis. And if they don't use computers at all then the learning curve of a tiny handheld model will be that much more intimidating. To convince an elderly loved one to branch out with anything from laptops to tablets always remember not to start out with something loaded with too many bells and whistles. With computers look for big screens that are easy to read and with mobiles make sure the buttons are the biggest and easiest to manage.
Fear of Showing Weakness

It can be very unsettling for parents and grandparents to become the students, both for them and for the younger people trying to teach them. No one likes to show ignorance about something and if technology has been greatly avoided then these Johnny-come-latelys have their work cut out for them. To avoid friction it may be wise to hire a professional teacher or visit a salesperson to help go over each potential product. Stand back enough to give them room but also remain aware of the conversation to make sure unnecessary upgrades and fees aren't being tacked on.

Some may fight change because of they genuinely believe things were better back when they were young. Even those who have kind of jumped into the joy of change may still resist upgrading programmes, checking out a Tablet, etc. They went one step but they won't be taken anymore. The Candy Lover is a mobile user who refuses to give up that old candy bar mobile. Yes, it allows for making and answering calls, and has an alarm clock but no texting capabilities whatsoever.
At one time it must have seemed modern but it's hard to actually imagine such a thing. This mobile user may be particularly resistent to texting, with the thought of actual smartphone capabilities not even registering on the meter. If their old mobile works without fail it may not even be worth it to try and convince them to upgrade. However if they can be made to see the advantage of texting, Web browsing, etc. then a change might be successful. Still, it's good to consider if a change is really needed or it's more about “winning” an argument about technology. Remember that a smarter phone will also make for higher monthly bills—something many elderly users would most likely be concerned about.

Manny Pacquiao Movie

by , in
Manny Pacquiao fans will be thrilled to know that a documentary film about their ‘idol’s’ life is set to be released this year. The movie will feature ‘Pacman’s’ life – from his poverty stricken origins to his current, multi-million successes.

Manny Pacquaio

The released film teasers have already garnered positive reviews. It is narrated by no less than award winning actor, Liam Neeson. And if that isn’t enough, familiar faces will appear as well to give their own personal insights of the Pambansang Kamao. ( literally translated as National Fist, as Manny is so fondly called by his fellowmen.)

This is not the first movie about Manny’s life. In June 2006, a biopic was released, Pacquiao: The Movie. It starred Jericho Rosales as the famed boxer and Bea Alonzo as his wife, Jinkee and featured actual footage from the highlights of Pacman’s career.

What sets this movie apart is the raw honesty it brings to Manny’s fans. It will have personal reflections from Manny, shared stories from his family and friends and interviews from Hollywood stars turned fans as well as musings from his trainer, Freddie Roach. For the first time, viewers will hear his words and travel back through time with him. For the first time, he will share his struggle, his pain and his success. This is what draws in fans: our empathy with Manny Pacquiao. This is the same reason why Filipinos emulate him; his journey was not a smooth paved path but a rough road full of thorns and riddled with stones.

The documentary film is a SXSW entry in Austin, Texas. SXSW stands for South by South West and it is an annual festival that focuses on directing new talent.

Bruno Mars Super Bowl Halftime Show

by , in
Bruno Mars, Bruno Mars Super Bowl Halftime Show

It has become tradition and a huge honor for a performer to be selected for the Super Bowl Halftime Show. This year, singer – songwriter Bruno Mars took the gargantuan task and promised to “give it all he’s got.” And boy, did he give a lot.

First, it was a quiet start with a children’s choir singing a few lines from ‘Billionaire’, ending with the words, …’the world better prepare’. The spotlight then shifted to none other than Bruno Mars himself, performing an adrenalin pumping drum solo. He soon joined the stage, singing with a brass show band, dancing and grooving to ‘Locked Out of Heaven’. The stage was bathed in yellow gold light as Mars, his band and his back-up singers were dressed to the nines in glittering golden jackets.

He continued to thrill with cool dance moves that mirrored groups from the 60s as he sang his hit song, ‘Treasure’. This he segued with a line from James Brown, “I don’t want to hurt you baby, I just want to work you baby.”, revealing another amped up performance from Red Hot Chili Peppers. True to form, the RHCP crew were shirtless which gave a stark contrast to Mars and his group who wore suits. It worked however, and soon both even the audience was on their feet, filling the stands, moving to the music.

As the period was nearing the end, Bruno turned sentimental, giving way to a video of US soldiers who were from their family. He capped his electrifying performance with a slow and maudlin song, ‘Just the Way You Are.’

Lest we forget to mention, the lights and fireworks committee gave a spectacular arrangement too. The kaleidoscope of colors was fantastic and the fireworks were so well timed. Great job, NFL and Bruno!

Wally Bayola's Back?

by , in
Wally Bayola

It’s been months since we’ve seen of Wally Bayola. He has chosen to keep mum and bear his ‘humiliation’ in silence. Since his scandal was publicized, he has dropped out of the famed noon-time show, ‘Eat Bulaga’ (temporarily, they say) and has stepped out of the public limelight. There has been silence from both the comedian and the show’s representatives except for the initial expression of support for the latter.

Now, reports are in that he is making a ‘soft’ comeback. Wally is slowly re-entering the entertainment biz, stage wise. Stalwart supporters of the shamed comedian will be disappointed however, because he has yet to return to his segment with Jose and Paolo on TV. He is back as a stand-up comedian at Zirkoh in Quezon City.

Filipinos truly have the shortest memories and the biggest of hearts. This early, a lot of people are clamoring for him to come back and reclaim his rightful place in the industry. So many seem to have forgotten, how a few months ago, his very public scandal with EB babes Yosh came out. Now, forgetful of the indiscretion, people are asking for his comeback to showbiz.

Will he though? That remains to be seen. Some skeptics are doubtful on how effective he remains and understandably so. Eat Bulaga is a wholesome noontime show, one which no clandestine performer should be a part of.

Am I being too tough? Do you think he should go back? Let’s just wait and see what happens in the next few months.

My Top 5 Cancer and Romance Films

by , in
Cancer and romance. Death and love. It may at first, seem like an odd mix but who can ever resist a mellow and poignant love story? Remember the old adage, “It is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all.” It’s true, isn’t it, it feels better to feel alive and loved, even for a short while than to feel lost and alone for a lifetime.

A Walk to Remember

A Walk to Remember

The release of the movie “The Fault in our Stars” is a few months off and fans wait with bated breath for Hazel and Augustus’ love story. It is a romantic film about two people who find each other and fall in love, all set in the backdrop of a terminal illness. (Oh cancer, you are such a buzz kill.) The preview which was released last January 29 looks promising and, as evidence of the fan base that appears to be growing, it has had more than three million views in less than 24 hours. While waiting for the film, I offer you 5 of the most romantic movies I’ve seen which are set along the same lines. Each film has love – tons of it, and loss. But a word to the wise, you may need tissues.

No. 5 Moulin Rouge! (2001) – This may not appeal to a lot of people, most especially those who have a deeply rooted dislike for musicals. I love this movie however, for the romantic quotes it gives. The movie is set in the 1900s, in the romantic city of Paris, long before it was seen as romantic. It is about the love of a poor, starving writer(Ewan McGregor) for a celebrated ‘lady of the night’,(Nicole Kidman) in a local brothel theatre. Here, the lines, “Come what may, I will love you until my dying day.” and, “The greatest thing, you will ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return.”

No.4 Griffin and Phoenix(2006) - This I feel, would be the older version of ‘The Fault in our Stars.” It stars Amanda Peet and Dermot Mulroney – two cancer ridden individuals who, against all odds, develop an unlikely romance. The only difference is that, the girl doesn’t know that the guy is sick, creating a temporary- but-easily- overcome setback. I love the no nonsense of this movie in terms of creating characters we can identify with. They are just normal people, going about their lives when they are forced to do a double take because of the big C.

No.3 Love Story (1970) – This may be a debatable place in my countdown. I only placed it here because, well – its 1970 – and its beyond my time. I saw this once on a channel that features oldies and fell in love with it. This may be the only movie I have in the list where the two main characters (Ali Mac Graw and Ryan O’Neal) have had considerable time together - making the goodbyes even harder. This movie earned so many fans that it is even part of the American Film Institute’s Most Romantic Film list. The line, “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” – is still being quoted today.

No. 2 Sweet November (2001) – This movie may leave your heart aching. It is a bittersweet movie on the importance to occasionally stop and smell the flowers. It is a story about a man of the world – Nelson (Keanu Reeves) and his romance with Sara (Charlize Theron), a woman with terminal cancer. They uncharacteristically meet, fall in love and live together, but in the end, the illness gets in the way. It is a great movie, one that teaches so much in so little time. And lastly, for the top of my list, we go back to being young again.

No. 1 A Walk To Remember – This again, will be highly debatable. This movie may not have the traditional marking of the greats – no great noble lines or highly dramatic scenes - but it may be because of its simplicity that it leaves its mark far more than other movie has. It is a simple film, one that deals about the miracle of love and its ability to transform even the hardest of hearts. Its memorable quote rests in the last frame where Shane West’s Character, Landon, talks about his love for Jamie (Mandy Moore) and how their love is like the ‘enduring wind’; unseen but felt. I can go on and on, but remember this is a list about love and loss –to cancer. Here’s to waiting a few more months before “The Fault in our Stars”! Check-out trailer below also.

2014: The Beginning of the Driverless Car Race

by , in
Almost a decade ago, self-driving cars were featured in films such as I, Robot and seemed like a concept that would possibly come in the far future. Well, the time has come for this concept to become a reality as many auto companies begin the race to build a car that has no human driver. It has been theorized that many of these companies will make large strides this year with this seemingly futuristic concept.

When Will These Cars Hit the Road?

The first educated guess was published on Tuesday by international researcher IHS Inc. Their prediction was that there would be driverless cars on the road by 2025. Suddenly the future of cars seems closer than expected as their prediction is only 11 years away. Some auto companies, such as Nissan, are sure that they will be the first to put out these new self-driving cars by 2020. Realistically, however, IHS says that the first large amount of market models will be ready to go by the middle of the next decade. In 2025, they believe that about a quarter million of these cars will be sold. From that point, IHS predicts that the market will boom with driverless cars. By 2035, U.S.-based researchers believe 11.8 million of these vehicles will be sold every year. It is predicted that nearly every vehicle on the road by 2050 will be self-driving cars. North America is expected to have the highest amount of sales, followed closely by China and Western Europe.

Enjoy a Safer Vehicle

Obviously, taking human beings out of the vehicle equation would reap many benefits, according to Egil Juliussen, who is an analyst at IHS. First of all, the rate of accidents seen on the road would decrease to almost zero for self-driving cars. As these driverless cars are fairly new to the market, there would still be accidents where self-driving cars are crashed into by other vehicles, but this occurrence would decline as more driverless cars hit the roads. Another benefit to driverless vehicles would be less traffic congestion and cleaner air. Self-driving cars can be programmed to make driving patterns more efficient. Each vehicle would get to the intended destination in the quickest and most efficient way possible, eliminating unnecessary traffic and reducing pollution in the air. Overall, self-driving vehicles would be a much safer transportation device for consumers.
