The Tools Everyone Should Have in their Car

There’s nothing like the freedom of having your own vehicle, being to go wherever you want whenever you want without having to rely on a third-party to get you there. Unfortunately, most drivers will, at some point in their life, experience an issue with their car that means that freedom is, at least temporarily, taken away from them. The good news is that if you have a few choice tools in your car, your chances of getting into trouble and having to rely on someone else to get you out of it will be significantly lessened. 

With that in mind, here are some of the most important tools you should always have on hand in your car: 

The Car’s Manual 

It’s pretty obvious, but so many people do not keep their vehicle owner’s manual in their vehicle; they leave it at home, where it is absolutely no use at all should they get into difficulty on the road! If you want to be able to solve your own car problems, as best you can, as often as you can, then you absolutely do need to carry your car’s manual with you wherever you go.

This should allow you to solve most minor tire problems yourself without having to call for help. 

A Good Socket Set

Jumper Cables

It’s a no-brainer that you should keep a set of jumper cables in the car at all times. After all, it’s a simple, affordable piece of equipment that could get your disabled car moving again. Make sure that you choose a set that feature solid spring-loaded clamps and are of a sufficiently high-quality because, some of the cheaper models are not as reliable as they would have you think, and may leave you stranded despite your best efforts. 

A Can of Gas 

Okay, so this probably isn’t something that everyone needs to do, but if you’re someone who regularly drives long distances and explores new routes, it is certainly going to be to your advantage to carry a can of gas around with you, so that should you miss-plan your journey or get lost without easy access to a filling station, you won’t be left running on empty or unable to continue your journey. 

Work Gloves

If you want to protect your hands from injury and from oil, dirt and grease should you break down unexpectedly and have to do any repairs on your vehicle, then it always pays to have a good pair of work gloves on hand in the car. If you’re really serious, you might even consider packing some work overalls in the trunk just in case, too. 

A First Aid Kit

Last, but certainly, not least by any stretch of the imagination, every single driver on the roads would do well to have their own first aid kit packed and ready for action in the car. Unfortunately, it won’t always be a simple tire puncture or flat battery that causes you to get into trouble on the road- it could be an accident - but if you’re prepared for every eventuality, you will likely fare much better than you otherwise might.
