Why I Want A BMW 5 Series For My Next Car

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to buying cars. Yours might be different to mine, for instance. In the 16-odd years that I have been driving, I have owned all sorts of cars. My first car was a mk1 Volkswagen Golf, and I think that car might have started my affinity for German automobiles!

I now have a family, and so I need to buy a car that is suitable for transporting them with me. As I’ve developed a taste for luxury and refinement, I have decided that I am going to buy a BMW 5 Series for my next car.

You might be wondering why I’ve decided to go for that particular model. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives, granted. But there is something about the allure of the BMW 5 Series that I just can’t resist!

In this blog post, I’d like to share with you what I think the selling points of the BMW 5 Series are. But don’t blame me if you decide that you too would like to buy one!

Refinement

When you sit inside a BMW 5 Series, you feel as though you are sitting in the first-class section of a plane or train. As you relax by sitting on the comfortable leather seats, you have at your disposal a wide array of features and technology.

In fact, if the car could drive itself and you had someone to serve you a bite to eat or some fresh coffee, more people would buy one! On a serious note, it’s one of the few cars on the road that offer such refinement.

Style

Although it’s getting a bit old now, my favourite is the E39 shape built between 1995 and 2004. The one I have my eyes on is the E60. I know that the styling of BMW cars isn’t to everyone's tastes.

But I think that BMW cars are nicer to look at than say Audi or Mercedes-Benz models. The 5 Series is one of the best-selling BMW models over at the Motorline Direct dealership, and it’s not hard to see why.

I’ve always maintained that the 5 Series models from the E39 shape upwards are timeless. They will look great in ten or twenty years’ time just as they do today.

Space

The great thing about the BMW 5 Series is that there is plenty of space. You can seat up to four passengers in comfort, and the Touring version offers exceptional cargo space. Perfect if you’ve got a family in tow, like I do!

What I like about the Touring is that the wheel arches don’t take up lots of space in the back, like it does in other estates or station wagons.

Residual value

It’s no secret that BMWs are expensive to buy brand new. That’s why I’m going to get a used model!

One of the biggest selling points of BMW cars is that they hold their value well. They don’t suffer from high depreciation like their competitors.

Do you own a 5 Series? What are your thoughts on it?
