Transporter: The Series

Jason Statham is one of the few successful British actors to have made it big not only in Hollywood but in the worldwide market as well. Perhaps his most famous role is that of Frank Martin, the Transporter. (do not call him driver!) Action fanatics will recall his eternally menacing scowl and his calculating demeanor. And it may have been because of this that when the movie trilogy was translated into a TV show, millions were glued to the tube to see more action-packed, adrenalin pumped fight and chase scenes.

Personally, I have yet to be amazed. It seems that the creators of the shows have chosen to ignore the female demographic and have written Frank Martin off as a babe magnet. Every episode sees the Transporter with a new girl in tow, subscribing to the old female in the distress stereotype. The hyped up fight scenes are passable as Chris Vance, the actor who plays the TV Frank Martin, has some impressive moves.
As a fan of the famous movie franchise however, I do miss the charisma of the sullen and surly Martin, compared to the boyish charm of what we now have on the small screen.

The Transporter TV series airs every Saturday at AXN Asia.
