Thinking About Buying a New TV? Here's what you need to know

by , in
Buying a new Television is a big commitment. Why? Well, they depreciate as fast as cars and laptops. If you buy the latest model, then it will cost you a fair penny and finally, they are what all the furniture in your living room is pointed at. So they also have to look quite futuristic and appealing. Without further ado then, here is a quick rundown of everything you need to know when buying a new TV.

Smart TV

People used to think smart TVs would be the next big thing. But, unfortunately for suppliers they have not been that popular. Smart TVs are, in essence, quite similar to smartphones. They can do more than you would expect a tv to be able to do. For example, some have cameras so you can Skype. Others can be voice controlled. The problem with them? Well, think about it. When exactly would the average person use their television to Skype someone? Added abilities like voice control are impressive but good luck using it if you have a strong accent. The positives are that smart tvs are connected online so you can watch Netflix and Youtube videos with ease. If you are a tech buff or stream videos frequently a smart tv may be the right choice for you. Prices vary but the top models can now be bought at around £700

Different Screens and Sizes

Does size matter? When it comes to television screens it arguably does, yes. So what size should you be looking for? Well, if you are buying a normal 1080p HD TV for your living room you want one about 42 inches. I would not recommend going any bigger than 65 inches. If you go any bigger then you will find most images displayed will not look like they are high definition. The reason for this is that high definition can only stretch so far. Otherwise, you need more advanced equipment that your standard HD tv does not have. For example, SKY channels only transmit at 1080i. You will not get an HD quality picture on a bigger screen. Also, if you are thinking about installing Sky or Cable on your new tv consider using a company like Rf digital.

Hot wheels for top UK soccer stars

by , in
Footballers are known for their moves on the pitch, their wives and girlfriends and questionable fashion sense.

But the thing that really sets them apart from the crowd is the staggering amount of money they earn for kicking a ball around.

Top-flight players attract an average salary of £2.3 million a year.

That’s close to 100 times the average British worker’s salary and more than you’d hope to win on the national lottery. Even the biggest winners in football betting haven’t come close to that figure.

How do footballers begin to dream about how to spend all that dough?

No more shopping at high street when you’ve got the readies for designer togs.

Why live in a pokey flat when you can splash out on a spacious penthouse?

And flying budget airline becomes a thing of the past when you have access to your own private plane.

But there’s one thing every self-respecting footballer has to put on his “must have” list and that’s a flashy car.

According to a study commissioned by luxury broker Oracle Finance, the most popular ride among Premier League footballers is the gas-guzzling, no nonsense, road-raging Range Rover.

A reliable car with plenty of space for all those sacks of cash, the classic Range Rover has been top dog with footballers for some time.

But former Manchester City player Stephen Ireland saw room for improvement and he pimped his black Range Rover with shocking pink trim. Shocking being the operative word.

His isn’t the only vehicular abomination by an attention-seeking footballer.

Earlier this year, Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari unveiled a $900,000, six-wheeled Mercedes Brabus as his latest run around.

And William Gallas, former Chelsea and Arsenal defender, was seen gadding around in a chrome-plated Mercedes. That’s right, his car was basically a massive, moving mirror. Talk about a vanity project!

Former Liverpool and Leeds forward El Hadji Diouf went one step further. He had his already ostentatious Cadillac Escalade dipped in gold.
Then there’s Mario Balotelli, who clearly wanted to keep a low profile when he invested in a sports car sprayed in desert camouflage. Sadly, the paint job had the opposite effect. Far from helping the sportsman blend into the background, the car may as well have been fitted with a neon sign reading: Balotelli is here. Perhaps that was the original intention after all . . .

For some players, one car is never enough.

Cristiano Ronaldo owns a beautiful Bugatti Veyron which would have set him back a staggering £1.7 million.

Maybe he keeps that one for best, because he also owns a Ferrari, a Lamborghini and a Rolls Royce.

It seems it’s important to have the right car for every occasion.

And, if you’re a footballer, that car must be the fastest, most expensive and coolest vehicle on the planet.

But here’s a message for all those flashy car-loving footballers out there. This is how you take a corner:

Would Life Be Better Without Television?

by , in
Television has completely revolutionised our society. Most of the people alive today do not remember a time before they had TV sets in their home. For a bit of fun, we wanted to find out what life would be like if that essential tech had never been created. Would we live a happier existence? Is it likely our lives would be less complicated? Let’s find out.

Slower transfer of information

One of the main benefits of everyone having a TV in their home is that important information can be transferred quickly. If there are any national or international emergencies, authority figures can let the public know about them in seconds.

Without televisions, we would have to get all our information from the newspapers. That means we probably wouldn’t learn about events until the day after.

Less entertainment

Whatever you think about television, there is no getting around the fact that it offers cheap entertainment to the masses. Before we all had TV sets in our home, people would have to buy tickets for their local cinema or visit the theatre. Both of those things cost money, and so most folks simply couldn’t afford to entertain themselves in that manner.

Weaker perspectives

The way in which we look at issues relating to our society is important. Without television, it would be possible for people to form uneducated opinions on vital matters because they couldn’t see the whole picture. TV documentaries help to give the public factual information that helps them to build a strong and accurate perspective.

To answer the question posed in the title of this post, no, life would not be better without television. In fact, it could be a whole lot worse!

Event Internet Rental

by , in

Almost as important as your choice of locale will be your choice of an internet provider for your event. More and more applications are performed primarily over the internet, and no event will be complete without a robust and reliable internet connection.

In fact, internet is now so essential that most venues will have installed a hard-wired internet system into their facilities. While these solutions will obviously be tempting since they don’t require much extra set-up, they can be difficult to update or otherwise modify, meaning that they might be out-of-date or simply too rigid for your needs. They can also be an expensive solution.

You’ll want to explore your rental options through Trade Show Internet. Because all their technology is portable, they can easily ensure it suits your needs, and they are able to up-date quickly and easily. They offer both internet delivery technology and bandwidth solutions. To learn more, go to their page at http://tradeshowinternet.com/products.

They have services across the country, including Los Angeles. For more information, go to http://tradeshowinternet.com/eventorganizers/los-angeles.

Golden Wii will come in handy for royal Golden Girl

by , in
Her Majesty the Queen has been a bit busy lately.

In the space of a week she’s been coo-ing over her new great granddaughter, congratulating David Cameron on a second term as Prime Minister, and commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe with VE Day celebrations.

That woman needs a cup of tea and a sit down.

In fact Queen Elizabeth II, who turned 89 in April, probably ought to slow things down on the work front generally.

Last year, she attended 375 official engagements in the UK and 18 overseas.

Not many soon-to-be nonagenarians could keep up that pace. In September, Her Majesty will become the joint longest reigning British monarch by matching Queen Victoria’s epic rule of 63 years and seven months.

She has seen 12 Prime Ministers come and go, had her portrait painted 139 times, hosted close to 100 state banquets, opened 15 bridges and owned more than 30 corgis.

It’s fair to say she’s more than earned the right to take things a bit easier.

But this is not the kind of woman who’ll readily give in to a more sedate life or move to a retirement complex in Florida.

Even in her dotage, she’s an active woman who strides out on country walks, enjoys a spot of grouse shooting and isn’t afraid to voice her opinion.

So how will she fill her day when her diary looks woefully empty? Chances are she’ll resist the lure of daytime TV (like below) and, instead, turn her attention to more exciting indoor activities.

The Queen may look a bit stuffy in her head scarf and tweed skirts, but she prides herself on keeping up with modern life.

She sent her first email in 1976 and launched a website for Buckingham Palace in 1997. She watches TV just like the rest of us and is said to be keen on Brit soap Coronation Street, Dr Who and various detective dramas.

She’s also a game player. In 2007, Kate Middleton bought Prince William a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. The story goes that The Queen couldn’t help but muscle in and get in on the action.

In May 2009, games publisher THQ, exploited that nugget of information and produced one of the most ingenious PR stunts of the day.

The company was launching its new BIG Family Games and recognised that there was no bigger or more important family than a royal one.

What are the Best Free Games of 2015?

by , in
It’s often hard to find the best free games when there are so many to play. So, here’s your guide to this year’s best so far.

Silly Sausage in Meat Land

With a name like that, who could resist having a go at this fantastic game? It’s not just a great name though (although it is a great name!) the game play is also addictive and challenging. You play the game as a sausage dog that is very stretchy and capable of extending over huge distances.

The sausage dog has to move about and avoid the many deadly challenges you face. It might sound easy, but, believe me, it’s not. It’s the kind of game that will frustrate you but keep you coming back for more!

Dumb Ways to Die

If you’re looking for cute characters and fun graphics, Dumb Ways to Die is the game for you. The title might make you think that it’s a violent game, but it’s really not that kind of game.

The aim of the game is to stop the characters from dying in increasingly dumb ways. You’re their guardian, and you have to make sure they survive each level of the game. It’s a pretty timid game, but there is some thinking involved too!

games, free games, online games

Car Eats Car

A lot of car games are boring and predictable nowadays. It often seems like we’ve seen it all before, and there is nowhere else to go for the car game. But Car Eats Car proves that that’s not necessarily true.

It combines the car game with the zombie game. The car you control has landed in a post-apocalyptic world where are the other cars are trying to eat yours. It’s original if nothing else! But there is a lot else to enjoy. It’s a fun time-killer that will entertain you whenever you’re bored.

Frisbee Forever 2

You’re probably wondering how a game that revolves around frisbee could possibly be much fun. But, I assure you, Frisbee Forever 2 is a lot of fun. You can download it on your Ipad for free, and I bet it’s not the game that you’re expecting.

You never actually throw the frisbee. A game that involved throwing and catching a frisbee probably would be pretty boring. Instead, you control the flight of the frisbee as if it were a plane gliding through the air. You have to collect stars as you soar above beautiful landscapes and designs.

Wrassling

There are a lot of great minimalist games being released right now. It’s as if game designers are rejecting the possibilities offered by modern technology and deciding to go back to basics instead. Wrassling is a wrestling game and looks like it was made about 25 years ago.

Your wrestler is a big clump of bits and all you can do it flail your arms around in order to defeat your opponents. The aim of this rather simple but addictive game is to stay in the ring and try to knock your opponents out of it.

With so many great free games at our fingertips, who needs an expensive console?
