It can be hard to keep a tab of office productivity because you are working yourself and trying to ensure your business stays afloat in a time where it is rocky to say the least. One of the best things you can do in an office environment and indeed any work environment is ensure that there is a proper break room installed. You need to ensure the room is designed in a different way to the rest of the office so that your employees can feel like they can kick back and relax, giving them the vital recharge before they get back to work. If they don’t get this recharge they will end up feeling weaker, and their productivity will tail off. In the break room you should look at getting a TV, so they are properly removed from the work. You also need appliances for them, microwave, oven, fridges, etc. On the same note think about getting dining equipment but also comfortable chairs where people can relax.

People also like working in their own bubble when in an office. This can be hard to achieve because space is at a premium and people tend to be crammed together. To get around this you should think about using acoustic office screens. Privacy means better work, and if they are going to be talking on the phone all the time it is needed. Otherwise it can be quite hard to hear the customer, especially if they are naturally quiet in any case.

If you are finding it increasingly hard to look after the productivity of your staff, then look to hiring a manager of some kind. They can do it for you. The plus is in getting someone who can do the day job while also managing productivity. So you are essentially recruiting someone who is management material.

In the office environment you may also want to look into incentivising good work. If you work in a sales environment this is done best but you can also do it working in other kinds of areas with workload completion and the like. Bonuses go a long way. The trick is making them hard to reach but also realistic, otherwise people are going to be annoyed with you for setting unreachable targets. There are all kinds of ways of setting bonus schemes.
